Cameras in Delhi to check entry of polluting vehicles from 2024

Officials said that most trucks that enter the city illegally come through the smaller entry points that are difficult to manually monitor

Despite MMRTA’s nod, no infra to ply autos outside metro stations

The decision to have dedicated stands for autorickshaws below metro stations in Mumbai has not been implemented despite approval by the transport department. Unions have raised concerns about the lack of infrastructure, such as boards, signs, and fare charts, at the stands. Once the stands are in place, the demand for different routes will be assessed before finalising long-term plans. The stands will benefit commuters in the western suburbs of Mumbai.

69 diesel buses sent back from ISBTs, Delhi borders

69 diesel-run buses were apprehended and stopped from entering Delhi on Wednesday for not complying with BS6 standards. These buses were asked to return to their respective depots without picking up passengers.

E-bikes, cycles to give last-mile connectivity a boost across Delhi’s Dwarka

The transport department in Delhi plans to deploy 3,000 e-bikes and e-cycles across Dwarka sub-city to serve as last-mile connectivity options. The vehicles will be placed at transit hubs like metro stations and bus stops. The department has floated tenders for high-speed and low-speed electric two-wheelers and will conduct a study to finalise docking station locations. New rule for registration renewal of older vehicles

Earlier, older vehicles were offered re-registration facility after vehicle’s inspection and verification of documents by the MVI only. The DTO was the final authority to accept or deny re-registration

Share auto menace: 86 illegal stands in western suburbs, says union

The Mumbai Rickshawmen's Union has identified 86 unauthorised shared autorickshaw stands in the western suburbs of the city. These stands create chaos outside railway stations and quote unapproved fares, causing problems for other vehicles. The union has called on the transport department and regional transport offices to approve these stands and make them legal. Commuters have complained about the dangerous driving and safety risks posed by these illegal share autos.
