Police secure custody of Umar Khalid’s attackers

Police sought custody of Darwesh Shahpur and Naveen Dalal to interrogate them to establish the source of the pistol used in the attack and to recover two mobile phones that they used to shoot videos to claim responsibility.

Two men from Haryana held for alleged attack on Umar Khalid

Deputy commissioner of police (counter intelligence, special cell) Manishi Chandra said the men, Darwesh Shahpur and Naveen Dalal from Haryana, have admitted to the crime but claimed that their intention was not to “kill” Khalid but only to “assault” him.
