Uttar Pradesh reported 727 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Monday. It was the first time since the second wave of the infection started wreaking havoc in the state that the daily caseload went below 1,000.

UP Assembly passes contentious bill prohibiting unlawful conversion

This bill will replace an ordinance which was already in place. The bill will now be sent to upper house of the state legislature and later to the Governor for his nod after which it will become act.
Besides Joshi, 17 other accused including state Congress leaders like Raj Babbar, Pradeep Jain, Ajai Rai, Nirmal Khatri, Rajesh Pati Tripathi and Madhu Sudan Mistri are also named in the charge sheet in the case. (PTI)
