FORTRESS AMERICA was breached today by the world’s most spectacular terrorist attack. In the first of a series of coordinated attacks, two hijacked planes crashed into and levelled New York’s 110-storey World Trade Center in Washington DC, another hijacked aircraft wrecked parts of the Pentagon and a car bomb damaged the State Department. Thousands of people are feared dead.

Bicycle service launched in SoBo for last-mile connectivity

MYBYK, a bicycle-sharing service, has launched 100 bicycles at 10 locations in South Mumbai to promote last-mile connectivity. The rental service, in partnership with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, is aimed at residents, office-goers and tourists visiting areas including Marine Drive and the Gateway of India. The service is being run through MYBYK's app and tariffs range from INR59 ($0.86) per day to INR749 per month. MYBYK also plans to introduce electric bicycles in the area.

Cancelling of 2015 allotment: GMADA acting ‘in haste’, ‘arbitrarily’, says builder

Against the September 2015 allotment of plot for ₹131 crore, WTC Chandigarh has already paid ₹108 crore to GMADA within the allowable time period extending to June 2026. Further, WTC Chandigarh has been regularly highlighting the discrepancies in their calculations and delay in grant of permission to mortgage (PTM) by GMADA against executed term sheets since 2022.

Four days after Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) cancelled the allotment of two builders, one of them, World Trade Center, Chandigarh, in a statement stated that the executive officer (EO) has initiated action “in haste” and “arbitrarily”. (Sourced)

The 19th anniversary of the terror attacks will be marked by dueling ceremonies at the September 11 memorial plaza and a corner near the World Trade Center, reflecting a divide over the memorial’s decision to suspend a cherished tradition of relatives reading victims’ names in person.
