WPI inflation sees marginal uptick due to rise in prices

  • Data released by the industry department on Tuesday showed food inflation contracted 1.29% in August while fuel inflation and manufactured products inflation rose to 26.09% and 11.39% respectively during the same month.

WPI inflation at 12.07% in June as food, fuel prices soften

  • Data released by the industry department showed food inflation in June decelerated to 3.1% from 4.3% a month ago while fuel inflation eased to 32.8% from 37.6% despite the recent increase in prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas.

Retail inflation falls, WPI at 9-month high

Separately, data released by the industry department on Monday showed wholesale price inflation inching to a nine-month high at 1.55% in November as inflation for manufactured items accelerated.

WPI inflation rises to 1.32% in September mainly on costlier food articles

The wholesale price index based (WPI) inflation was in the negative territory for four straight months -- April (-) 1.57 per cent, May (-) 3.37 per cent, June (-) 1.81 per cent and July (-) 0.58 per cent.

Wholesale inflation rises to 0.16% in August

The index for primary articles with a weightage of 22.62 per cent increased by 1.81 per cent to 146.3 in August from 143.7 in July. Prices of minerals increased by 10.21 per cent, crude petroleum and natural gas by 4.72 per cent, non-food articles by 3.06 per cent and food articles by 0.93 per cent.
It was at minus 0.58 per cent in July, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Not inflation or fiscal numbers, policy should focus on demand boost

India’s October wholesale price inflation eases to 0.16%

The rate of price rise for food articles was at 9.80 per cent during the month, while for non-food articles it stood at 2.35 per cent, showed the data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Wholesale inflation rises to 5.13% in Sept over rise in fuel cost, hardening of food prices

According to the government data released Monday, food articles witnessed hardening of prices with deflation at 0.21 per cent September as against 4.04 per cent in August.
