The 11th season of Bigg Boss -- the controversial and dramatic reality show -- comes to an end on Sunday night. Through these years, we have noticed certain patterns on the show and while we have discussed the kinds of contestants inside the house, this year we explore the formulas applied by the makers to ensure a rise in the TV ratings each time they take a dip.

Blossoming love

Every year, we have seen proposals, engagements and even contestants claiming their love profusely on the show. Be it Kushal Tandon and Gauahar Khan or Puneesh Sharma and Bandgi Kalra or Pooja Bedi and Rahul Mahajan, there has always been a couple in the house. That most of these relationships ended in breakups is another thing, but every season has had at least one romantic relationship blossoming inside the house.

Violent fights

Right from Kamaal R Khan to Kushal to Priyank, at least one character inside Bigg Boss house is way too impulsive and ends up attacking someone during a fight or argument. Quite predictably, the one attack is run on a loop while promoting the particular episode.

Judge Salman

Every major fight is followed by long monologues by the host, Salman Khan, where he delivers sermons on the fatality of violent fights and using abusive language. He has chided Akash Dadlani, KRK, Kushal and even Dolly Bindra in their respective seasons. He also delievers verdict as to who was right and wrong in each fight through the week.

Ego clashes of wannabe/have-been celebs

From Tannisha Mukerji to Poonam Dhillon to Arshi Khan to Monalisa, we have seen ego fights inside the house where contestants boasted of their own ‘popularity’ and stardom, exposing their own insecurities.

Prize money goes to zero and back

For past few years, Bigg Boss found a new way of offering twists to the tale of the reality show. When certain housemates break house rules, the prize money is always reduced to zero. After cashing in on the hype of how the contestants want to simply win the Bigg Boss trophy, for a few weeks, Bigg Boss then announces a task that can bring the entire prize money back to original. Inevitably, the contestants also manage to do that each time.
