From the day the TV serial Pehredaar Piya Ki was taken off the air for its ‘regressive content’, there was news that the makers were coming up with a new show. The promo of this new show went on the air recently. While it has nothing to do with the story of Pehredaar Piya Ki, almost the entire cast of the scrapped show has been retained, except for two changes: child actor Affan Khan is no longer there; and Parmeet Sethi, who played Harshwardhan ‘Maan’ Singh, has been replaced by actor Khalid Siddiqui.

“It’s a love story and we’ve already started shooting for it. The location is the same, The Laxmi Niwas Palace in Bikaner. Tejasswi [Prakash] will be doing a lot of stunts, and given her fitness level, she has been pulling them off really well,” says a source, adding that they’ve been getting mails and messages from viewers who’re looking forward to the new show.

This show is titled Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya, and it’s expected to start in November, as per the promo. A second promo will be released soon.

Tejasswi, who was the female lead in Pehredaar Piya Ki, plays the role of Diya on this show — the first name of her character is the same as it was on the scrapped show, an interesting fact.

Rohit Suchanti has been cast as the male lead. The actor, who was on shows such as Saas Bina Sasural and Warrior High, will play a character named Ratan Mansingh, which again was the name of Affan Khan’s character in Pehredaar Piya Ki.

“We’ve been looking for a fresh face to be paired opposite Tejasswi. So, along with Rohit, we had also approached Naman Gor (brother of actor Pooja Gor), Priyank Sharma (who is now a part of Bigg Boss 11), Shantanu Maheshwari, and Sajjad Khan (brother of actor Mohsin khan). But finally Rohit made the cut. He has also undergone a makeover,” adds the source.
