Paying a tribute to late Kavi Kumar Azad, aka Dr Hathi, the producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Asit Kumarr Modi, said through his acting he had earned the affection of his fans.
Kavi Kumar Azad, Dr Hathi of the immensely popular character from the hit serial Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, died on Monday leaving behind his legion of fans grieving. The late actor’s mortal remains were cremated on Tuesday. Now, the producer of the serial Asit Kumarr Modi, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late actor.
Posted on the Instagram account of the famous Gokuldham society, the video clip begins with Asit saying: Our dear friend, Dr Hansraj Hathi, is no more with us. Life is eternal and love immortal. With his acting, Kavi Kumar Azad, has earned your affection. He will always be in our hearts. Flowers wilt but their fragrance stays on. (Hamare sabke saathi, Dr Hansraj Hathi, ab nahin rahe. Jeevan shashwat hai aur prem amar hai. Kavi Kumar Azad ne apne abhinay se aap sab ka sneh haasil kiya hai. Woh hamarey dil mein hamesha rahenge. Phul murjhaa jaate hain par uski mehak hamesha chaman mein mehekti rehti hai.)

On Monday, the actor suffered a massive heart attack and died. On Monday, Azad was unwell and was taken to Mumbai’s Wokhardt Hospital after he complained of discomfort. However, doctors announced him dead on arrival.
The representative of the serial revealed that despite being unwell for the last few days, Kavi was still reporting for the shoot of the show.
Kavi played the role of Dr Hathi in Taarak Mehta for almost eight years, having replaced actor Nirmal Soni, who played the role for a year since the show’s inception, in 2009.
