    A Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer saved a woman from falling under a train in Mumbai, The woman was seen trying to board to board the train with her luggage when the train started to move. CCTV footage shows the woman falling and sliding down the platform. The officer on duty saved the woman by holding and pulling her with all his might. Speaking to ANI Khandelwal said, “‘I convey my message through dance moves. Initially, people didn’t obey rules, but with my style, people got attracted and started obeying rules.’ Khandelwal can be seen striking dance poses in this video and enacting swift moves to control traffic at busy intersections in the city.     A school bus carrying over 50 students in Rajasthan’s Dausa got stuck in a waterlogged underpass on Thursday. The children climbed on the roof of the bus when water started entering the vehicle. Locals alerted the police when they found the bus completely immersed in water, and children standing on the roof. The locals along with the police then rescued the children, carrying the little ones in their arms out of the water. Rajasthan has been receiving heavy rainfall since Monday.     A fire broke out in a building at central Delhi’s Paharganj area early on Wednesday. Delhi police personnel saved the life of a couple who were trapped in the building. The local police received a call about the fire in a street of Chuna Mandi in Paharganj around 6 am, a senior police officer said. The fire had started at the first floor, trapping people who were on upper floors as they were sleeping at the time, the officer said.     A 38-year old school teacher was stripped, thrashed and paraded naked on the streets in full public view on Tuesday night for allegedly raping and impregnating a girl student of his school in Eluru town. According to the police, Kare Rambabu, working as an English teacher in a private school, trapped a 16-year old girl studying tenth class in the school six months ago promising to fetch her good marks in the subject. He allegedly raped her several times during this period. Even after she passed out her Class X examinations in April this year and joined a polytechnic college subsequently, he continued to exploit her sexually. Recently, the girl realised that she had become pregnant and she got panicky. She approached Rambabu to find a way out and he reportedly gave her some pills for the termination of pregnancy. When the girl developed severe health complications due to heavy bleeding, her parents admitted her in the hospital, where they came to know that she was pregnant. (HT Correspondent )read more

    Twenty seven people have been killed, including 11 in high range Idukki in landslips, in the torrential rains in Kerala. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan described the situation as “very grim” with army columns being deployed at Ayannkulu, Idukki and Wayanad. As water levels rise in various dams and reach almost their maximum capacity, shutters of at least 24 reservoirs in Kerala have been opened to drain out excess water. Four of the five shutters of the Idukki dam have been opened. “We are on a high alert. At least 4,000 people living in low-lying areas have been evacuated to relief camps.     About 40,000 people visited IKEA’s first India store on its opening day here, a company spokesperson told IANS. The store’s opening saw a stampede-like situation.     Suman Gautam, who was puttering in her kitchen to make tea early on Wednesday morning, was jolted out of her reverie when spotted a five-foot-long, male, Indian Rock Python coiled up in her kitchen. The Sheetla Colony resident had picked up the gas lighter to ignite the burner, when she spotted something moving under it. It took Suman under 10 minutes to alert her husband and the entire neighbourhood of the find.     ‘Eco-friendly’ logs made out of cow dung have been introduced in Raipur for funerals. The logs will be provided for free. The logs are made by a machine which produces enough logs for four funerals daily. “To obtain wood for funeral, large number of trees are cut, damaging the environment and produces a lot of smoke. Therefore we opted for this eco-friendly method”, said Raipur Mayor Pramod Dubey. The logs will be provided to all cemeteries across Raipur.
