Making the smallest carvings of one of the biggest creatures in the animal kingdom is what a carpenter in southern India is trying to do. So far forty-two-year-old P. V. Aniyan has carved 26 miniatures in rosewood from one millimeter to one inch in height. Though a goldsmith by birth, he works as a carpenter for a living. But carving miniature elephants is his hobby. It takes months to carve a miniature.
