Cyclone Ockhi hits Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep
The deadly cyclone Ockhi hit the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and Kerala, resulting in torrential rainfall and gusty winds. A deep depression in the Bay of Bengal turned into a cyclonic storm, causing death and destruction in the states. The Tamil Nadu authorities on Sunday stated that the total number of deaths caused due to cyclone Ockhi has reached 19. The state department also said that at least 690 people have been rescued so far while 96 were still missing. However, locals alleged that over 1000 people are still missing. Cyclonic waves are now moving towards Maharashtra and Gujarat.
