12 traders back home from China
Twelve Indian diamond traders, arrested in China in January 2010 on charges of smuggling but later acquitted by a Chinese court, arrived in Mumbai on Thursday. The traders' two-year ordeal finally came to an end as they met their families and friends in an emotional reunion outside the city airport. Holding banners and flowers, the families waited with bated breaths to welcome the traders. The Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court, which conducted the trial of the diamond traders, sentenced one merchant to six years, two to five years each, one to three years and six months and five others to three years of imprisonment each.
