Speaking alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Merz acknowledged the moral and constitutional dilemma posed by Israel’s conduct in the Gaza war, stressing that Israel must also be measured against international law. He confirmed Germany’s support for a two-state solution, while clarifying that recognition of a Palestinian state should come only after negotiations.
