Heavy rain and gusty winds hit Odisha as Cyclone Yaas makes landfall. India Meteorological Department said that the land fall process commenced around 9 AM. “Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Yaas centered about 50 km South-Southeast of Balasore (Odisha). Landfall process has commenced around 9 am,” said IMD. Odisha’s Chandipur, Balasore, Bhadrak and Paradeep witnessed heavy rainfall and strong winds. Meanwhile, sea turned rough at Digha in WB’s Purba Medinipur district. The Indian Navy provided relief material for Cyclone Yaas affected people.
