NASA cameras capture stunning images of dust storms on Mars
Curiosity, NASA’s robotic rover exploring Gale Crater on Mars, has captured striking images of whirlwinds of dust sweeping across the planet. The footage, which was taken in February, shows a dust devil, a strong upward whirlwind travelling above the planet’s surface. Using accelerated timing and modified contrast, NASA scientists produced frame-by-frame photographs to make the movement of the dust cloud more visible. Winds play a special role structuring landscapes on Mars.
