Biden signs series of orders on day 1; talks about Trump’s ‘generous’ letter
In his first hours as president, Joe Biden struck at the heart of President Donald Trump’s policy legacy. Biden signed executive actions reversing Trump’s orders on climate change and Covid-19. Biden signed three executive orders in the presence of the reporters. The first, mandating masks and social distancing on federal property, the second on support for under-served communities, and the third rejoining the Paris climate accord. Biden said, “I think some of the things we're going to be doing are going to be bold and vital and there's no time to start like today. So, what I'm going to be doing, I'm and proud of today's executive actions. I'm going to start by keeping the promises I made to the American people.” Biden answered one question from a reporter about his letter from outgoing President Donald Trump. He said, “The president wrote a very generous letter. I have ... it is because it is private I won’t talk about it until I talk to him. But it was generous.” Watch the full video for more.
