Israeli Air Force strikes 'Iranian targets' near Russian bases in Syria: Report

A Reuters report says that Israel in a series of strikes hit 'Iranian targets' in Syria on August 14. The strikes took place near President Bashar Al Assad's ancestral home region and close to Russian military bases in the country. The strikes hit outskirts of Damascus where Lebanon's pro-Iranian Hezbollah group run their outposts. A Syrian army officer told Reuters that an Iranian base was the target of Israel. Israel has launched several strikes against Iranian targets in recent years but has avoided hitting areas where Russian military assets are concentrated. Although Russia has turned a blind eye to Israeli air strikes, tensions have mounted between the two countries following the Ukraine war which Israel has condemned.
