6 fascinating facts about Raj Kapoor: The legacy of a Bollywood legend

Raj Kapoor wanted to make a very subjective film titled "Make Up Utaro". It was about an actor who does not want to grow old, his wife and his women. It was a allegory about illusion and reality, the face and the mask.

He formed one of the most iconic and romantic Hindi screen couples of the 50s with Nargis. Off screen, he was passionately and deeply in love with Nargis, while married to Krishna Kapoor.

Raj Kapoor was the highest paid actor with Dilip Kumar in Hindi Cinema from 1950-56 and the 2nd highest paid Hindi film actor from 1957-63 behind Dev Anand.

Raj Kapoor starred in Bengali movie Bari Dadi as a child.

Although he gained global fame playing a tramp like character on-screen, Kapoor's films rarely had elements of comedy or satirical humor.

He, alongside Dev Anand, is also one of the few Bollywood leading men to have never played a negative role.
