This mission aims to study the sun from a vantage point at the sun-earth Lagrangian point (L1). The spacecraft will travel 1.5 million kilometers from Earth over the next 125 days

The L1 position allows continuous observation of the sun without eclipses

The spacecraft is equipped with seven payloads that will send data to Earth. The Visible Emission Line Coronagraph (VELC) is the most significant payload. It will capture around 1,440 solar images daily for analysis

Scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) also said that the Aditya-L1 Solar Mission will help us understand the sun's impact on earth's climate patterns, the origins of solar wind, the stream of particles that flow from the sun through the solar system
