Indian Railways To Slash AC Chair Car Fares
The Ministry of Railways asked several zones to introduce discounted fare schemes in AC chair cars with sitting accommodation that saw below 50 percent occupancy in the last 30 days

The railway ministry said in a statement that the scheme is aimed to optimise the utilisation of accommodation in trains

The discount fare scheme will be implemented with immediate effect. However, passengers who have already booked their tickets will not receive a refund

This scheme is applicable only in AC Chair Car and Executive AC classes of all trains with sitting accommodation. This also includes Anubhuti and Vistadome coaches

A maximum of 25 percent discount will be applicable on the base fare. Other reservation charges, Super fast surcharge and GST will be levied separately

The discount is applicable for the end-to-end journey as well as for intermediate sections if the occupancy is less than 50% in that section

This scheme will be implemented for six months and the discounted fare will be given based on demand pattern
