5 prasad items to celebrate Chhath Puja

Chhath Puja is a four-day festival celebrated with great fervour by people from Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh.

This festival is celebrated with different types of delicacies, sweets and fruits. If you are celebrating this festival for the first time, then here are five prasad items you must know about.

Thekua

Thekua is a tasty sweet prepared during Chhath Puja using flour, ghee and jaggery. The combination of ghee and jaggery is considered healthy during cold weather of winters.

Rasia-Kheer

One of the significant prasad items, Rasia-Kheer is prepared during Chhath Puja using jaggery, milk and arwa rice. This kheer is absolutely delicious in taste and is perfect for festivities.

Bananas

Bananas are one of the main fruits that are brought home during this auspicious festival. One can also cook raw bananas like other vegetables and enjoy the meal on Chhath Puja. 

Sugarcane

Sugarcane is included in all the rituals during Chhath Puja as it is believed to be the only plant that requires full sunlight to grow.

Grapefruit

Grapefruit is offered to the goddess Chhathi Maiya and eaten by devotees on Chhath Puja. Grapefruit helps protect from various illnesses during the changing weather.
