5 tips to maintain a snake plant

The snake plant is a succulent with thick and long leaves. This is an excellent houseplant as it requires less maintenance and thrives indoors. Here are some tips for maintaining a snake plant.

Potting

Make sure to pot the snake plant in well-drained soil. Mix some cocopeat with soil and put the plant carefully in a deep pot. You can also mix some organic compost to increase soil fertility.

Sunlight

Snake plants can thrive in low-light conditions and can grow quickly indoors. You can place them near a window or keep them in the balcony. Avoid keeping them in sunlight for long during summers as their leaves can burn due to excess heat.

Watering

The snake plant is a type of succulent that can grow well in low-water conditions. Water them once every two to three days and avoid overwatering them. You can water them twice a week during winters to prevent waterlogging.

Temperature and humidity

Snake plants can thrive in moderate to hot temperatures and humidity. However, you can keep them indoors during extreme climatic conditions to prevent their leaves from drying. Keep them away from wet places like bathroom.

Pruning

Trim the yellow or dead leaves of the snake plant once every week to maintain the plant's growth.
