One can experience joint pain due to increased muscle tension and less mobility during winters. The cold weather can also reduce your body's flexibility.

Here are some tips to get relief from joint pain in winters.

Keep moving

It is crucial to keep your body active in winters. The lesser you move, the stiffer your joints become. Practice yoga or go for a walk regularly to relax the muscles and to keep the blood circulating. 

Stay warm

Prolonged exposure to the cold weather can lead to pain in your hands, knees and hips. Wear warm clothes and apply hot compress to get relief from joint pain.

Manage your weight

It is essential to avoid weight gain in winters as it can further lead to joint pain. Exercise regularly and avoid consuming processed foods to prevent weight gain.

Maintain a healthy diet

Include foods rich in calcium, proteins, vitamins and minerals to promote bone health.

Stay hydrated

Consume an adequate amount of water every day to prevent dehydration. Low water intake during winters can result in joint pain, muscle stiffness and other health issues. 

Get vitamin D

Vitamin D is essential to promote muscle and bone health. Less exposure to sunlight in winters can lead to vitamin D deficiency. Make sure to sit in the sun to get vitamin D naturally.
