6 tips to protect yourself against cybercrime

Cybercrime takes place when someone targets your network, accounts and devices to steal and exploit information. It is essential to protect yourself from cyber attacks.

Here are some tips to protect yourself against cybercrime.

 Update your system

Make sure that your device's operating system and internet security software are up-to-date. Cyber criminals can easily hack and breach the security wall of an outdated and expired system.

Secure your internet connection

Use a strong Virtual Private Network (VPN) to secure your internet. The VPN will help encrypt the traffic before reaching your device, prevent malware attacks and mask your IP address.

Use antivirus software

Make sure to use an antivirus software that functions as a security wall between viruses, malwares and your device. An antivirus software allows you to scan, detect and remove threats.

Avoid opening spam mails

Malware attacks commonly take place when a user clicks on a suspicious link or opens attachments in spam mails.

Keep tracking your bank statements

Keep a constant eye on your bank statements and avoid sharing OTPs and personal PIN. If you come across unfamiliar transactions, immediately report about it to the bank and the cyber officials.
