Masters of Disguise: 6 Animals That Excel at Camouflage

The animal kingdom is a harsh place and different species have adapted according to their surrounding environments. One such evolutionary characteristic is camouflage.

Vietnamese Mossy Frog – As the name suggests, this frog has a unique textured body that blends in with moss-covered ground.

Goldenrod Crab Spider – This flower spider has a striking yellow colour and also the ability to change colours according to its surroundings. This disguises them while hunting for prey.

Great Rockfish – The red colour and rough texture of this fish makes an ideal camouflage from predators and prey alike, as it hides amidst rocks.

Leafy Seadragon – The leafy seadragon has seaweed-like protrusions on its body that can change colour according to surroundings, disguising it from predators. In addition, they also sway like seaweed in the water.

Hobart’s Red Glider Butterfly – This unique insect has a bright scarlet hue on the upper side of its wings that helps it disappear amidst foliage of similar shades.

Satanic Leaf-tailed Gecko – These incredible reptiles can seamlessly blend into the forest floor or tree branches due to their leafy appearance.
