Mental Health Awareness Week: 5 tips to keep your mental health in check

Mental Health Awareness Week is being observed from May 13 to May 19, 2024. This year's theme is 'Movement: Moving more for our mental health'.

Here are some tips to keep your mental health in check.

Get regular exercise

Get moving to improve your mental health, as suggested by this year's Mental Health Awareness Week theme. Exercising every day can help increase the production of feel-good hormones.

Meditate

Meditating can help relax your mind and reduce stress and anxiety. It also helps increase mindfulness.

Express your thoughts

Expressing your thoughts to your closed ones or writing down your feelings in a journal can help reduce stress, make you feel lighter and prevent anxiety. It also helps understand issues clearly and find solutions.

Practice relaxing activities

Practice relaxing activities regularly to take a break from your monotonous life. Do things that make you happy and calm your mind, such as painting, listening to music or watching a movie.

Seek professional help

Seek professional help of a counsellor when you feel anxious and talk to a therapist. Therapy is highly beneficial in improving your mental health.
