What is PresVu Eye Drop and will it get rid of your glasses? Experts provide insights
Entod Pharmaceutical is launching PresVu eye drops in October in India, claiming it will gradually eliminate the need for reading glasses. It will be the first eye drop in India for people with presbyopia.
As people age, the lens of the eye loses flexibility, making it hard to focus on close objects. This condition, called presbyopia, affects near vision and often requires reading glasses. It typically starts in the middle age.
"PresVu is essentially a lower-concentration pilocarpine, a molecule used for decades to treat glaucoma. They have no permanent effect on reading glasses power and work for about 6 hours." -Dr. Tushar Grover Associate Consultant, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Medical Director, Vision Eye Centre
"PresVu drops may cause adverse effects like headaches, irritation, and watering of the eyes. In contrast, glasses are a permanent solution with no such side effects. "Results may vary due to differences in iris, pupil, and ciliary muscles, and pigmentation. The drops may require frequent use and are only effective for early presbyopia (plus 1 to plus 1.5). "Ideally eyes should be screened before using these drops.
