Here's how you can secure your final property e-khata in Karnataka

In a bid to curb fraudulent deals, the Karnataka government has decided to make e-khatas mandatory for registration of properties in the state.

What is a khata certificate? It is a legal document that validates the ownership details of a property in Karnataka (residential as well as commercial).

The pilot for issuance of e-khatas is currently being implemented in more than 12 districts including Chitradurga, Raichur, Bagalkot and Chamarajanagar, among others.

Citizens in Bengaluru can access their draft e-khata by visiting www.bbmpeAasthi.karnataka.gov.in.

Submit details such as sale deed or registered deed number; EC for the property, starting April 2004; 10-digit property tax application number.

Furnish Aadhaar eKYC of owners, 10-digit BESCOM number, GPS of property and property photo.

Upload support documents for A Khata (citizens can declare they do not have them and the final eKhata will still be issued).

BBMP has said that once the above details are fed electronically then the software itself verifies all documents and automatically issues the final e-khata.

If entered information is incomplete or mismatches with BBMP records, or there is an objection filed by someone to not issue the final e-khata, then citizens can meet the jurisdictional ARO.
