Skin Care Guide To Getting A Tattoo
Here are a few things you need to keep in mind before and after getting a tattoo
Do not consume substances like alcohol or caffeine 48 hours prior to getting a tattoo as it can increase bleeding during the process than usual
Drink plenty of water before getting a tattoo as it helps hydrate your skin and makes it a less painful experience
Avoid shaving the area where you're getting the tattoo before the appointment as it may cause irritation during the process
Newly inked tattoos are highly prone to infection as the area around the tattooed part is sensitive
Make sure to keep your tattoo covered with a bandage or cling wrap for a few days as your tattoo expert advises
In consultation with your tattoo expert, cleanse your tattoo regularly to prevent skin infections
Moisturise your tattooed skin using the prescribed lotion or balm. This will prevent your skin from drying and speed up the healing process
UV rays can fade the ink of your tattoo. Apply a water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or more to your tattooed area before going out in the sun
Letting your tattoo heal is necessary to avoid skin damage or infections. Do not rub, itch or pick scabs in your tattooed area
If your tattoo causes excess skin irritation, rashes, or infection, make sure to consult a dermatologist immediately and take the necessary steps
