ICC World Cup 2023: List of records broken

The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 kicked off on October 5 and will continue till November 19, 2023. The tournament thus far has witnessed several cricketers breaking records with their skills.

Here is a list of records broken at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Most centuries

India's Rohit Sharma fetched the record for hitting the fastest century ever by an Indian in the World Cup during a match against Afghanistan. He also registered most centuries in World Cup, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar.

Fastest century

Australia's Glenn Maxwell broke Markram's record by registering the fastest World Cup century off 40 balls during a match against Netherlands. 

South Africa's Aiden Markram broke Irelands' Kevin O Brien's record of the fastest hundred in Men's ODI World Cup during a match against Sri Lanka and finished with 106 runs off 54 balls.

Highest team total

South Africa broke the record for the highest team run total in its first match against Sri Lanka. South Africa smashed 428 runs in 50 overs at the loss of just 5 wickets. 

Most International sixes

Rohit Sharma surpassed Chris Gayle with the most number of sixes in International cricket during a match against Aghanistan. Rohit blazed 131 in just 84 balls and hit five sixes.

Most five-wicket hauls

India's fast bowler Mohammed Shami surpassed Kapil Dev's record to be the only India to pick two five-wicket hauls in World Cup. 

Fastest to 2000 ODI runs

India's Shubman Gill became the fastest batter to reach 2000 ODI runs. He reached the milestone during the World Cup match against New Zealand and accomplished this feat in 38 innings since his debut in 2019.
