WTC 2023: Steve Smith Reaches New Century-High In Test Cricket

Australian skipper Steve Smith completed his 31st century on Day 2 of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against team India

The WTC final between India and Australia is taking place at the Oval, London. Smith remained unbeaten on 95 and Australia ended day 2 with a score of 327-3 in 85 overs

Smith surpassed former India skipper Rahul Dravid to become the second-highest Test century-maker

He registered the second position in scoring highest Test centuries (9) after Sachin Tendulkar, who scored the highest Test centuries (11) in Test cricket

He is only behind Don Bradman, who scored 11 Test centuries in England. Steve Smith and Joe Root have scored the most centuries (9) against India in Test cricket

Smith surpassed Ricky Ponting, Viv Richards and Garfield Sobers by hitting his 9th century against India during WTC final

Smith was dismissed by pacer Shardul Thakur in the 99th over for 121 off 268 balls

Earlier, Virat Kohli acknowledged Smith as the best batter of the generation
