From Usha Vance to Kamala Harris, 6 Indian Origin Women Shaping Global Politics

Usha Chilukuri Vance is the wife of soon to be US Vice President, JD Vance, who holds two impressive degrees in History and Philosophy.

She is the daughter of Indian, Telugu-speaking immigrants.

Kamala Harris is the first woman, first black American and the first South Asian person to be elected as Vice President of the US. She also served as San Francisco's district attorney and California's attorney general.

She was raised by a Jamaican father and an Indian-born mother.

Anita Anand - Born to Indian parents from Tamil Nadu and Punjab, Anita Anand is a Canadian lawyer and politician who has been serving as the President of the Canadian Treasury Board since July 2023 under Trudeau's recommendation.
