Bringing a new dog home to your cat? Here's how to help them meet safely and get along.

Make sure your cat has a room where the dog is never allowed.

Set up a room. It can be any size- just make sure it has a door and a ceiling to keep the dog out.

Add a litter box, scratching post, food, water, toys, and no harmful items.

Don’t let them meet for the first 3-4 days. Keep the new dog in a separate room.

Teach “sit” and “down.” Keep sessions short and give rewards.

Let them meet in a shared space- not the cat’s room. Keep the dog on a lead.

Don’t let the dog chase. End the meeting early if needed.
