Interesting facts about astronaut Sunita Williams

Sunita (Suni) Williams became a NASA astronaut in 1998 and has flown on three space missions.

She has been part of Expeditions 14/15, 32/33, and 71/72 on the International Space Station (ISS).

On June 5, 2024, Williams and Butch Wilmore flew to the orbital lab on Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft.

Williams and Wilmore returned home aboard a SpaceX Dragon with Nick Hague and Aleksandr Gorbunov on NASA’s Crew-9 mission.

Williams has spent 62 hours and 6 minutes on spacewalks.

Across her three missions, she has spent a total of 608 days in space.

She was born on September 19, 1965, in Euclid, Ohio, and grew up in Needham, Massachusetts.

Sunita Williams graduated from Needham High School in 1983.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Science from the US Naval Academy in 1987 and later completed a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1995.
