Elephants eat all day. They can feed for up to 16 hours a day. In the wild, they may eat 250 to 600 pounds of food daily.

They don’t digest food well. Elephants digest less than half of what they eat. They poop 12 to 15 times a day, that’s 220 to 250 pounds.

Their waste can power a car. With the right equipment, one elephant’s daily methane could run a car for 20 miles.

Each elephant drinks 25 to 50 gallons (100-200 litres) of water a day.

An elephant’s trunk can hold 2.5 gallons of water.

Only male Asian elephants have big tusks. Females have tiny ones called “tushes” that barely show.

Elephant tusks never stop growing. Some can weigh over 200 pounds each.

An elephant’s heartbeat is just 27 beats per minute.
