What would happen if two galaxies collided? Stunning details from NASA

NASA’s Hubble Telescope saw two galaxies crash into each other.

The crash made bright, young star clusters near the centre.

A spinning pinwheel-shaped disc also appeared in the middle.

The disc resembles a tiny spiral galaxy viewed from above.

The new star clusters are inside a galaxy called NGC 7252.

NGC 7252 has long tails that show signs of strong gravitational forces.

The galaxy is nicknamed “Atoms-for-Peace” because of its odd shape.

The Hubble images prove galaxy crashes can make new star clusters.
