Cats sleep 15 to 20 hours a day. Older cats usually sleep more than younger ones.

Genes play a big part. Wild cats are hunters and need lots of rest to save energy.

Cats are night-time hunters. They are most active at dawn and dusk.

They take short naps called catnaps. Even while napping, they stay alert to sounds and smells.

Sometimes cats sleep because they’re bored. If they have no one to play with, they just doze off.
