The much-awaited film will be screened at the film club much before it’s official release date,December 9.

The film is directed byDamien Chazelle, whose 2014 film Whiplash, bagged three Academy awards.

La La Land, which also starsJohn Legend, Rosemarie Dewitt and J K Simmons, follows a musician and aspiring actress who meet and fall in love in Los Angeles.

Smriti Kiran, creative director ofMAMI, said the team zeroed in on the romantic-musical-drama as it is one of the most talked about films of the year.

“La La Land is one of the hottest titles in the festival circuit this year. It is by a director who gave us Whiplash, then there is Ryan Gosling. The film is a musical, it has romance, and both these genres have not been explored in a big way in the recent years,” Smriti told PTI.

“It (La La Land) is touted to be one of the Oscar front runners and therefore we thought it would be an ideal treat for people who are film club members,” she added.
