China will relax rules for British travellers, allowing UK visitors to enter the country visa-free for stays of less than 30 days, the British government said on Thursday.

The move will bring the UK into line with other countries including France, Germany, Italy, Australia and Japan, Starmer’s office said on Thursday in a statement following his meeting earlier in the day with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The two nations also agreed on a services partnership that will make it easier for British businesses to operate in China, answering calls from UK firms “for clearer rules, better market access and support to grow their sales in China,” No. 10 said.

Britain and China plan to conduct a feasibility study into whether to open negotiations on a bilateral services deal, according to the statement.
