Security forces bring down 9 Taliban militants in northwest Pakistan

Security forces targeted rebel positions in the restive Mohmand tribal region of northwest Pakistan, killing nine Taliban militants, security officials have said.

An air offensive was launched on Saturday against Taliban hideouts in Inzary, Sagi, Awrdewazgi areas of Mohmand Agency bordering Afghanistan. A total of 28 militants were killed in earlier air strikes in the same region, officials said.

In a separate development, troops apprehended six terror suspects from a relief camp for internally displaced persons in Nahqi area of Mohmand Agency.

In yet another incident, a man identified as Muhammad Jan was killed when a mortar shell hit a house in Dawezai area of the same tribal region. It could not immediately be ascertained who had targeted the house.
