In line with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Board has undertaken several initiatives to implement competency-based education in schools, from developing exemplar resources to aligning assessment of competencies.
The primary goal of the CBSE is to do away with rote memorization towards learning and create an educational space based on creative and critical thinking so that students are ready to face the challenges of the present era.
2024-25 Sample Question Paper (SQP) Analysis for Class 10
For the 2024-25 academic year's sample papers for the class 10 board, CBSE has not made any changes in the typology except for adding questions for visually impaired students. The total no. of Qs remains the same with the addition of internal choice in some of them. Also, there is no change in the total number of sections or the overall paper pattern.

Class 12 Sample Question Paper (SQP) Analysis for 2024-25
There is a slight modification in Class 12 SQPs and the marking scheme for board exams.
- Two A/R Questions are added in objective sections of subjects like English.
- Graph and figure-based questions are increased in Mathematics but the number of Qs remains the same in almost every subject.
- Competency-based questions have increased to 50%, compared to 40% in the academic session 2023-24.
This 10% increase reflects a stronger emphasis by CBSE on assessing students' practical understanding and application of concepts.

Report: CBQs have increased by 10%; direct Qs in the form of MCQs and A/R remain the same; and constructed response Qs have decreased by 10%.

Sample Question Papers (SQPs) provide a comprehensive overview of the question paper format and are used as a blueprint by teachers to prepare students for the board exams. Students should also download the CBSE official SPQ along with the marking scheme and start preparing for the board exam that is just six months away.
Students appearing in the class 12 board exam 204-25 should focus more on competency-based Qs as 50% of the questions will be asked from this typology.
