East Point School, in collaboration with Educart, holds session on improving parent-teacher engagement
In a significant step towards enhancing collaboration between schools and families, East Point School, in partnership with Educart, hosted a two-hour Teachers Training Workshop on the theme “Educating Parents about Education” on 8th August (kolkata)
The session was led by Dr. Suchismita Sinha, a Consultant and Practicing Psychologist, and moderated by Mr. Manish Aggarwal. Over 30 educators from the school participated, engaging in a series of interactive and reflective activities designed to deepen their understanding of effective parent engagement.
The workshop began with an interactive reflection, where teachers revisited their very first Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) experiences, recalling both the challenges and successes from their early careers. Memory-based activities helped participants trace how the teacher-parent dynamic has evolved over time, setting the stage for more meaningful discussions.
Key segments addressed communication challenges, offering practical conflict-resolution techniques and strategies to foster open, respectful dialogues with parents. Real-world case studies illustrated how to navigate diverse parental expectations, while simplified communication approaches were shared to help parents better understand their child’s unique learning capacities.
Dr. Sinha also explored the role of digitization in education, demonstrating how technology can be harnessed to improve transparency, collaboration, and student learning outcomes. Teachers were encouraged to adopt emotional intelligence skills, develop personalized communication plans, and promote a growth mindset among parents empowering families to become active, supportive partners in their child’s education.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Sinha remarked, “True education is a shared journey between teachers and parents. When both work in harmony, the child’s growth is boundless.”
The event reaffirmed Educart’s commitment to strengthening the educational ecosystem by equipping teachers with the skills and confidence to foster deeper, more collaborative relationships with parents bridging the gap between home and school for the benefit of every learner.
