Over 3000 Educators Tune In to Transform Assessment Practices in YouTube Live Session with Akanksha Arora
In a powerful display of collective will to reimagine Indian education, on April 19th 2025, over 3000 educators from across the country joined a YouTube Live session titled “Fostering Effective Assessment Practices”.
The session, hosted by Educart, was led by renowned teacher trainer and curriculum specialist Ms. Akanksha Arora, and centered on rethinking classroom assessment in line with the NEP 2020 vision.
As traditional assessment practices slowly lose ground in a world shifting toward competency based learning, the webinar aimed to guide educators in moving beyond marks driven evaluation toward more holistic, learner centered approaches.
Ms. Arora, drawing from her extensive experience in classroom training and teacher development, broke down complex assessment philosophies into actionable strategies that teachers could apply immediately.
Takeaways from the Webinar:
- From Marks to Mastery: Teachers explored the shift from marks-based evaluation to mastery-based assessment, where the focus is not on scoring but on understanding, application, and long-term retention.
- Designing Better Questions: The session highlighted how to frame meaningful, open-ended questions that test real world application rather than rote memory, especially important in a post-pandemic, digitally driven classroom.
- Feedback as a Tool for Growth: Ms. Arora emphasized the role of formative feedback, not just telling students what they did wrong, but guiding them on how to improve, which in turn boosts student agency and motivation.
- Using Data for Differentiated Learning: Teachers were introduced to techniques for using assessment data to personalize instruction and close learning gaps, a key pillar of NEP 2020 and modern pedagogy.
- Empowering Students as Reflective Learners: The webinar stressed building self - assessment habits in students, encouraging them to reflect on their own work and learning journey rather than passively receiving marks.
- Interactive Engagement: Educators shared their real - time questions and experiences via the YouTube Live chat, resulting in an enriching back and forth with the speaker and each other. The dynamic exchange made the virtual space feel collaborative and energetic.
Throughout the 90 - minute session, Ms. Arora used practical examples from classrooms, relatable case studies, and simple frameworks to make the ideas accessible even for teachers new to these concepts. The chat remained active throughout, a testament to the participants’ enthusiasm and curiosity.
Many educators noted how refreshing it was to see assessment positioned not as judgment, but as an opportunity to support every child’s growth, particularly in diverse classrooms with mixed learning levels.
The session concluded with a powerful takeaway: “Assessments should not be used to label students, but to unlock their potential.” Participants left not only with strategies and tools, but also with a renewed mindset about their role as facilitators of learning rather than evaluators.
This live session was part of Educart’s larger CPD (Continuous Professional Development) initiative, aimed at providing free, high-quality training to teachers across India through digital and in-person formats.
With the success of this webinar, Educart continues to play a vital role in helping schools align with NEP goals and make meaningful shifts in pedagogy.
