Educart and Sun Pharma Career Guidance Program

Vadodara, 27 Jan 2025 - To ensure students from non-metro cities receive the same access to guidance and opportunities as their urban peers, Educart and the Foundation for Development Initiative have partnered with Sunpharma Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to launch a career-guidance program for Class X and XII students in government schools across Vadodara and Halol.

The initiative aims to help young learners understand their strengths and make informed choices about their academic streams and careers, especially in regions where structured career counselling is still limited.

"Every learner in this country must have access to quality education and comprehensive information about their career choices. Geography should never decide the future of a child" said Ripul Agarwal, Managing Director, Educart.

Why Vadodara and Halol?

The choice of Vadodara and Halol is strategic. Both regions have seen strong industrial growth, but educational exposure related to career paths remains limited.

Many students still choose traditional occupations based on family expectations or familiarity, instead of exploring a wider range of possibilities suited to their interests and abilities.

The program began at PM Shri Model School in Halol. Interventions like this play an important role in raising awareness and building a culture where career planning becomes a natural and integral part of education. The initiative also aligns with the government's focus on strengthening career readiness among students. By setting practical examples, such schools inspire other institutions, communities, and young learners to recognise the value of informed career choices.

The Industry 4.0 Brief

India's job landscape is evolving, with opportunities growing in fields such as biotechnology, renewable energy, automation, data-driven roles and digital healthcare. For example, a student interested in healthcare can explore several paths beyond becoming a doctor, including biomedical engineering or health informatics. Creating awareness is the first step in helping them consider these options confidently.

How the Program Supports Students?

The initiative, which has reached 14 schools and 1,965 students across Vadodara and Halol, follows three steps:

  1. Group Orientation Sessions: Students are introduced to a wider range of career possibilities through interactive sessions.
  2. Psychometric Assessments: Students take assessments designed to identify their strengths, interests, and personality traits.
  3. One-on-One Counselling: Counsellors meet students individually to explain the results, resolve doubts, and guide them in selecting suitable streams and careers.

This approach ensures personalized and practical guidance tailored to each student's needs, rather than offering generic advice.

Sun Pharma's Commitment to Education

This initiative aligns with Sun Pharma's focus on supporting education and youth development in the communities where it operates and beyond. The company believes that timely access to correct information can significantly influence a student's confidence and sense of direction. The partnership with Educart highlights Sun Pharma's continued commitment to education-led social responsibility.

Chandra Shekhar Gowda, AVP and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Sun Pharma, said:

"Many young people in smaller towns have strong aspirations but not always the right information to shape their dreams. Our role is simply to create a platform where every student can receive the guidance they deserve at the right stage of their journey. If we can enable them to look beyond familiar career paths and recognise their own strengths, it can create lasting impact for both the individual, community and Industry"

What's Ahead?

With the advent of this career guidance session across the participating schools, it will continue to deepen students' understanding of career possibilities and help them make informed and realistic academic choices at a crucial stage of their education. Through assessments and counselling, the focus remains on building awareness, confidence, and clarity, helping students make choices based on their strengths rather than constraints.

The initiative reflects the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages early career awareness, informed choice, and exposure to emerging fields. By bringing structured career guidance into government schools, Educart and Sun Pharma aim to support students not just in choosing subjects, but in visualising meaningful pathways aligned with their strengths and aspirations.
