Empowering Educators: Educart Hosts Workshop on Competency-Based Assessment at Orleans The School, Rohini
New Delhi, July 26: In a strong push towards NEP 2020 implementation at the ground level, Educart, in association with Orleans The School, Rohini, successfully conducted a focused teacher training workshop on Competency-Based Assessment on July 26, 2025. Led by distinguished education expert Dr. Sudha Sharma, the 2-hour workshop brought together 20 educators to reflect on the shift from traditional, rote-based learning methods to a competency-driven evaluation framework.
Dr. Sharma opened the session by highlighting the urgent need for classrooms to move beyond factual recall and focus on conceptual understanding, application of knowledge, and higher-order thinking skills. Teachers were introduced to rubric creation, blueprint design, and question framing strategies rooted in Bloom’s Taxonomy, allowing them to structure questions across cognitive levels—from remembering and understanding to applying, analyzing, and evaluating. The facilitator showcased how these tools ensure inclusivity and balance in assessments, promoting fairness and equity in the classroom.
A standout part of the workshop was the hands-on collaborative activity where educators designed sample question papers aligned with learning outcomes and grade-level competencies. Teachers worked in groups to brainstorm blueprints, develop competency-mapped questions, and give each other structured feedback. This collaborative experience not only enhanced peer learning but also demonstrated how collective reflection can lead to more effective and aligned assessments.
Educart, through its on-ground support and training expertise, played a crucial role in structuring this capacity-building initiative. The workshop also included an overview of the latest CBSE guidelines on competency-based education, along with best practices for incorporating formative assessments and performance indicators
