In a bid to reimagine traditional classroom practices, Maharaja Agrasen School collaborated with Educart on 30 may 2025, to host an invigorating workshop on Design Thinking and Innovation in Education, led by noted educator and trainer Ms. Preeti Tyagi. The session offered a deep dive into how educators can adopt human-centered design approaches to spark creativity, problem-solving, and student ownership in learning.

The 2-hour session brought together 28 teachers for a free and highly interactive learning experience, focused on building 21st-century teaching skills. Held on campus, the event turned into a vibrant exchange of ideas, insights, and practical strategies that educators could take directly into their classrooms.

The highlight of the workshop was Ms. Tyagi’s breakdown of the five stages of Design Thinking: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test and their direct applications in a school setting. From understanding student struggles to co-creating solutions for curriculum engagement, each stage was brought to life through relatable examples and activities.

“Design thinking is not just a product design model, it’s a mindset shift. In education, it empowers teachers to see learning through the lens of the learner,” Ms. Tyagi shared.

Teachers explored scenarios where they could empathize with student needs, define specific learning barriers, and ideate ways to overcome them through creative and flexible methods. One of the most appreciated parts of the session was how Ms. Tyagi connected the framework to real classroom situations, showing teachers how to prototype small activities or assessments and then iterate based on student feedback.

The workshop also introduced game based learning tools and collaborative strategies to drive curiosity and engagement. Teachers were shown small, low-tech innovations such as group brainstorming charts, learning stations, or challenge cards.

From reworking classroom layouts to letting students lead parts of the lesson, she demonstrated that innovation in teaching doesn’t always require large scale changes.

Participants actively shared their own teaching hurdles, brainstormed classroom design tweaks, and collaborated in short tasks that mirrored the design thinking process. The atmosphere remained upbeat and curious, with many teachers expressing how refreshing it felt to be part of a session that treated them not just as educators, but as innovators.

The session was facilitated by Ms. Akanksha Saluja from the Educart team, who ensured seamless coordination and encouraged two-way engagement. The school’s leadership expressed their appreciation for bringing such a progressive and relevant topic to their faculty.

By the end of the workshop, teachers walked away with renewed energy and a practical toolkit to foster collaborative learning, student empathy, and creative thinking in their classrooms. For many, it marked a shift from viewing teaching as instruction to viewing it as co-creation.

This workshop is part of Educart’s growing CPD (Continuous Professional Development) initiative, which aims to bring cutting-edge pedagogical training to schools across the country. With a strong focus on modern teaching methods rooted in empathy and student voice, Educart continues to support teachers in becoming change-makers inside their classrooms.
