Modern Delhi International School Hosts Educart’s Workshop on Competency-Based Education & Assessments
On a mission to make assessments more meaningful and aligned with real-world learning, Modern Delhi International School, Faridabad, in collaboration with Educart, hosted a dynamic and practical workshop on Competency-Based Education (CBE) and Question Paper Design. Held on 28 May, 2025, the session was led by experienced trainer Ms. Preeti Tyagi and moderated by Nishant Lakra, Academic Head at Educart.
The training was designed to help teachers shift from traditional memory-based question papers to assessments that actually measure students’ critical thinking, conceptual understanding, and application skills in sync with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
What set this workshop apart was its balance between theory and action. Teachers participated in interactive exercises, group reflections, and hands-on question designing tasks, making the session not just informative but also implementation-ready.
Here are five key takeaways from the session:
-
Understanding CBE: Educators were introduced to the core principles of Competency-Based Education and how it differs from conventional teaching models.
-
Designing Purposeful Assessments: Teachers explored techniques for crafting questions that assess real learning—not just recall.
-
Bloom’s Taxonomy in Action: The workshop demonstrated how to integrate various cognitive levels—remembering to creating—into assessments.
-
CBSE Alignment: Practical examples showed how NEP 2020 and CBSE's latest guidelines support this learner-centric approach.
-
Mindset Shift: Most importantly, the session encouraged educators to view assessments as tools for growth, not just grading.
“This workshop helped me understand how to evaluate my students’ thinking, not just their memory,” shared one of the participating teachers.
The school’s leadership showed a strong commitment to professional development, and the active participation of the teaching staff reflected their openness to pedagogical change. The collaborative effort between Modern Delhi International School and Educart is another step forward in making classrooms more future-ready, competency-focused, and engaging for learners. As the education landscape continues to evolve, sessions like these are crucial to equipping teachers with the tools and the mindset to match the pace of change.
