Skilled Globizens School and Educart Join Hands to Empower Teachers on Gender Sensitivity in Education
In a forward-thinking initiative to foster inclusive and empathetic learning spaces, Skilled Globizens School, Saharanpur, in collaboration with Educart, hosted an impactful Teachers’ Training Webinar on Gender Sensitivity in Schools on June 26, 2025. The session was led by Ms. Isha Johri, a renowned CBSE resource person and advocate for inclusive education, and moderated by Mr. Ajay Kataria, Educart’s Training Lead.
The webinar was attended by 45 educators, including faculty members and the school’s leadership, all of whom showed active engagement throughout the two-hour session. The goal was to help teachers better understand evolving gender identities, challenge ingrained biases, and adopt inclusive teaching practices aligned with the broader goals of NEP 2020 and 21st-century education.
To set the tone for a reflective and participatory atmosphere, the session began with a mindfulness-based yoga activity that allowed teachers to center themselves. This was followed by a light scavenger hunt activity, which added a creative and interactive dimension, encouraging collaboration and openness among participants.
Ms. Johri then led the main segment of the workshop with a well-structured presentation that explored how gender sensitivity impacts classroom dynamics. She emphasized the importance of learning, unlearning, and relearning—a core process in becoming more aware, accepting, and equitable educators. Drawing on real-world classroom scenarios, she illustrated the need to move beyond the binary understanding of gender, highlighting the importance of including LGBTQIA+ identities in school discourse in a respectful and age-appropriate manner.
Key topics discussed included:
- Recognizing and addressing gender bias in teaching materials and behavior
- Creating safe spaces for all students regardless of gender identity
- Language use that promotes respect and dignity
- The educator’s role in shaping inclusive school culture
- Embedding inclusivity in lesson plans and classroom activities
The school’s Principal expressed strong appreciation for the initiative and acknowledged the growing importance of gender literacy in school settings. She also expressed interest in hosting an offline session with Educart and Ms. Johri to extend the dialogue and training further across staff.
The success of this session was a testament to the growing need for gender sensitivity training in schools, particularly as Indian education becomes more inclusive under frameworks like NEP 2020 and the NCF 2023. Educart’s efforts in bringing such meaningful training to schools demonstrate a clear commitment to empowering teachers as change-makers.
As one teacher summarized in the feedback form, “This session didn’t just teach us about gender sensitivity, it made us reflect on our own teaching and how we can be more thoughtful and inclusive every day.” With conversations like these, Skilled Globizens School is paving the way toward classrooms where every learner feels safe, heard, and respected - regardless of gender.
