PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Hosts Educart’s Workshop on Effective Classroom Management
PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya hosted a focused teacher training workshop on Effective Classroom Management, led by experienced educator Ms. Neha Bahuguna on 30th April, 2025. The session engaged 35 teachers in exploring research-based techniques that go beyond traditional discipline, instead prioritizing connection, clarity, and consistency to foster a positive learning environment.
Ms. Bahuguna opened with the premise that managing a classroom is not merely about maintaining order but about nurturing relationships and clear expectations. She highlighted that when teachers connect with students’ emotional states and communicate consistently, disruptions naturally decrease and engagement rises.
Participants practiced Emotion Check-ins using Five Fingers and Emoji Boards, simple tools that allow students to signal their emotional readiness at the start of class. This practice helps teachers adjust their approach in real time. The workshop then addressed de-escalation techniques and effective body language equipping educators to recognize early signs of tension and employ calming strategies before conflicts escalate.
Voice modulation and proximity control were demonstrated as subtle yet powerful ways to sustain attention and convey authority without raising volume or resorting to punitive measures. Ms. Bahuguna also introduced the “Catch Them Being Good” approach, encouraging teachers to notice and acknowledge positive behaviors immediately, reinforcing a culture of appreciation and motivation.
Through role-play scenarios and group discussions, teachers reflected on common classroom challenges such as off-task behavior or reluctance to participate and applied the learned techniques to these situations. This interactive format ensured that each strategy was not just theoretical but practiced and contextualized for diverse classroom settings.
Educators left the workshop noting how small, intentional shifts like a brief emotional check-in or a timely positive acknowledgment can transform classroom dynamics. Many remarked on feeling better equipped to handle disruptions empathetically and to build a more supportive atmosphere where students feel seen and respected.
School leadership praised the session’s relevance and practicality, expressing interest in follow-up workshops to further refine these skills. As PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya continues its partnership with Educart, teachers will have ongoing opportunities to deepen their classroom management toolkit, ensuring that learning spaces remain both orderly and emotionally supportive.
