Teachers spend much of their lives supporting the growth of the students which often makes them overlook their own well-being. Educart understood the need, and to cater the same, a teacher training workshop, 'Nurturing the Nurturer: The Secret to Happy Teachers', at Apeejay School, Saket.

The workshop was conducted by Ms. Eshu Madaan, founder of Skillsphere and a CENTA certified educator, with session being facilitated by Mr. Nishant Singh Lakra.

Workshop Overview

  • Date: 1st July, 2026
  • Duration: 2 Hours
  • Venue: Apeejay School, Saket
  • Mode: Offline
  • Speaker: Ms. Eshu Madaan
  • Discussion Led By: Mr. Nishant Singh Lakra
  • Participants: 41 Teachers
  • Registration: Free

Encouraging Teachers Towards their Own Well-being

The session started with a self guided self-assessment where an exercise was conducted to make the participants understand their emotions. It helped them focus on their emotions instead of suppressing them. Also, in the session, participants were asked not to ignore everyday stress and burnout signs and reflect on them as well for greater self-awareness.

The activity motivated teachers to understand their feelings honestly, which led to preparing for further deep discussions on emotional well-being.

The conclusion of the session formed the base for the entire workshop. The session emphasises on the fact that when educators feel emotionally and mentally supported, they are better able to:

  • Build strong relationships with the students
  • Respond to challenging situations with patience
  • Create a positive, and emotionally safe classroom environment

Understanding Well-being Through the PERMA Framework

One of the key segments of the workshop included introduction of the PERMA Framework of Positive Psychology. This is a widely recognised model which explains the foundation of long-term well-being.

In the session, Ms. Eshu Madaan explained how each component really contributes to both personal happiness and professional satisfaction.

  • Positive Emotions - cultivating optimism and gratitude in everyday life
  • Engagement - becoming fully involved in meaningful work and activities
  • Relationships - building supportive personal and professional connections
  • Meaning - finding purpose in teaching beyond academic outcomes
  • Accomplishment - celebrating progress and recognising personal achievements

These five pillars will reflect how they can actually help them remain motivated, emotionally strong, and fulfilled throughout their careers.

Addressing Emotional Baggage in the Classroom

This segment of the workshop explored how unintentionally emotional baggage gets carried in the classroom. Participants discussed how unresolved stress, and unrealistic expectations can affect interactions with students and colleagues.

After listening to everything, rather than presenting solutions directly, she focused on gradual emotional growth through activities like self-reflection, mindfulness, and healthy coping strategies.

Teachers were encouraged to focus on achieving emotional balance through regular habits and practice and not overnight.

Shared Learning Through Reflection Circle

To deepen the discussion, teachers were asked to participate in a reflection circle. This space was created for teachers so that they can openly reflect on each others' classroom experiences, professional challenges and personal insights.

The activity helped participants recognise that:

  • Many workplace difficulties are common across schools and should not be viewed as individual failures.
  • Listening to peers discuss similar situations gave a sense of belonging
  • It shows the importance of mutual support within the teaching community

Building on these conversations, the workshop shifted towards wellness practices that teachers could use into their daily routine.

  • Recognising that workplace challenges are shared across schools and are not individual failures.
  • Developing a sense of belonging through peer sharing of similar experiences
  • Strengthening collaboration and mutual support within the teaching community
  • Exploring genuine strategies for wellness that can be included into daily routines
  • Adopting simple stress-management techniques suitable for busy academic routines
  • Understanding that effective self-care does not always require major lifestyle changes

Collaborative Problem-solving Through Think-Pair-Share

After the reflection activity, this was an important segment. This segment involved Think-Pair-Share activity, where teachers first reflected individually before exchanging ideas with fellow participants.

The exercise encouraged educators to:

  • Share practical methods for managing stress at workplace
  • Learn strategies for balancing professional responsibilities along with emotional well-being
  • Support colleagues through group discussions
  • Develop collective approaches to common classroom challenges

The activity showed the value of learning through peers. It shows how collaboration can support both teacher well-being and school culture.

Journaling Reflection for Long-term Impact

Towards the end of the workshop, participants were engaged in an exercise of reflection which helped them consolidate their learning. Participants documented the most meaningful insights from the session, areas where they could use self-care practices.

This activity encouraged teachers to carry the lessons learned from the workshop beyond the training room into their regular routines.

A Powerful Closing Message

The workshop conducted with a memorable reminder, 'Pause before you react'. Teachers were encouraged to reflect before responding to any situation especially, the challenging ones. This reduces stress and improves communication and relationships inside the classroom.

One message that remained central was that teachers' well-being directly influences student learning. By putting efforts towards their own emotional health, educators come in a better position to create supportive classrooms.

Through initiatives like these, Educart continues to support educators development not only professionally, but also personally on an emotional level.
